Photovoltaics and Energy Storage | Local Wireless Solution for Anti-Reverse Flow Energy Meter Commun

38

In the field of Photovoltaic and Energy Storage, the occurrence of reverse power flow during grid connection of photovoltaic power generation can lead to

Reduced Generation Efficiency, Damage to Power Equipment, Decreased System Stability, and Safety Hazards. Therefore, in photovoltaic grid-connected systems,

measures need to be taken to prevent or reduce the occurrence of reverse power flow.

〓 Scene Painpoint 〓

▋ The RS-485 wired solution is Expensive

The RS-485 wired solution for connecting photovoltaic inverters and anti-backflow energy meters in traditional installation

scenarios is costly. Not only is the construction cost high, but the wiring is also complex and unsightly, resulting in

time-consuming and labor-intensive maintenance.

▋ Existing wireless solutions have Poor Signal Quality

The current wireless communication for inverters, such as Wi-Fi/Zigbee/4G, has weak building penetration,

which cannot meet the reliability requirements for photovoltaic data transmission.

〓 Scene Solution 〓

▋ Remote Real-time Collection and Energy Data Reporting
A LoRa serial protocol converter is connected to the anti-backflow energy meter side via RS-485, collecting real-time parameters such as current and voltage, and forwarding them to the LoRa wireless network through RS-485.
▋ Automatic Periodic Polling and Real-time Backflow Monitoring

A LoRa serial protocol converter is connected to the inverter side via RS-485 to periodically poll the anti-backflow energy meter slaves on LoRa, collect data, analyze and process it in real-time for anti-backflow monitoring, avoiding the unnecessary integration of photovoltaic power generation into the grid.

▋ Stronger Penetration and More Stable Signal

LoRa communication technology has excellent wireless penetration ability, long-distance communication

capabilities, and spread spectrum modulation, solving issues such as excessively short communication distances,

unstable signals, network congestion, and signal interference.

〓 Solution Topology 〓
▋ LoRa Communication Solution for Anti-Backflow

The photovoltaic inverter is connected to a LoRa serial protocol converter via RS-485 cable, serving as the host;

while an anti-backflow energy meter on the grid-connected side is connected to another LoRa serial converter, serving as the slave.

The slave collects parameters such as voltage and current from the anti-backflow energy meter in real-time.

The host periodically polls the slave anti-backflow energy meters existing on LoRa,

collects data, analyzes and processes it in real-time for anti-backflow monitoring, preventing excess

photovoltaic power generation from being integrated into the grid.
